HAL DUNCAN

PRODUCER / WRITER / EDITOR

Hal Duncan was born and raised in Denton, TX where he graduated from the University of North Texas with a BBA in Finance. In 2012, Hal visited Los Angeles where he met Academy Award® winning filmmaker Andrew Napier. They became close friends and to great success Hal produced Napier's feature documentary "Mad As Hell" about Cenk Uygur and "The Young Turks". That experience cemented Hal's passion for film and storytelling.

 

In 2014, Hal relocated to Los Angeles where he worked on a number of projects as a producer and/or assistant editor. These include two award winning short films with lauded actors Fran Kranz, and Amy Acker ("The Lord of Catan", 2014) and Josh Zuckerman ("An Orgy In Joshua Tree", 2019) 

In 2017, he worked as an associate producer and assistant editor on the acclaimed documentary "Active Measures" (2018) about Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and the 2016 election. "The film would not have been possible without him. His vast knowledge and expertise massively contributed to the film." Said Napier, who was the editor and executive producer of "Active Measures".

Hal founded Penumbral Films in 2022 and is currently working with Napier on a feature documentary and screenplay, both of which Hal is producing and editing.

 

Hal spends his time between Los Angeles, Tokyo and Dallas.
